Less energy than before?

Many people experience less energy when they reach menopause. It is easy to get tired from high stress, poor sleep and lack of time to take care of yourself. You may skip training because there are other things that come first. Over the long term, this is a recipe for burnout.

Constantly tired

Still tired in the morning, even though you’ve slept long enough?

Do you feel drained of energy, even though you haven’t done anything strenuous?

Do you suddenly get a “flat battery” – especially in the afternoons?

Stiff and sore

Are you stiff and sore all over your body without knowing why?

Do you have a stiff neck and back, with reduced mobility?

Does the stiffness after training last longer than before?

Lost strength

Has it become more difficult to open jam jars or carry heavy shopping bags?

Do you get tired faster when you exercise or go for a walk?

Are there activities that have become more difficult than before?

Menopause cannot be avoided, but many of the ailments can!

Menopause training

Regardless of whether you have trained a lot or a little so far in your life, training is extra important during menopause. Both strength and cardio training help against physical ailments and risk factors that come with age:

  • Strength training counteracts loss of bone mass and reduces the risk of osteoporosis
  • Both strength and cardio training help to maintain muscles, which is important for function and metabolism
  • Training can improve sleep, and in some cases reduce hot flashes
  • Training provides better mental health and more energy in everyday life

“Training is the easiest way to get more energy in everyday life, regardless of age.”

– Annema Refsnes, founder & head trainer

Strength training - gives strength in everyday life

Many are reluctant to do strength training, and miss out on the benefits this has. If you have not done strength training before menopause, it is even more important to start now!

By maintaining muscle mass, you can continue to do the activities you enjoy.
Muscles help to avoid increases in body fat and fluctuations in energy levels.
Strength training gives better posture and can reduce muscle and joint pain.
You are not older than you feel, and with strength training you can feel much better!

Cardio training

It may sound strange that training that makes us tired makes us less tired? During menopause, cardio training is just as important as strength, but you don't have to run long distances for it.

Cardio training makes the body's "energy systems" more efficient so that you become less tired
Improves sleep, and in this way affects our energy levels - but remember not to train hard right before bedtime.
Even small amounts of exercise reduce the risk of serious illness - try one of our short sessions!
Training improves the body's regulation of stress hormones and inflammation that affect energy levels.
The training must be combined with the right diet and recovery, so that the body builds itself up over time

Frequently asked questions about menopause and training

Menopause is a natural part of the aging process, when the body reduces the production of sex hormones (estrogen in women, testosterone in men). This happens to a greater extent in women than in men, and women usually also experience a greater degree of physical ailments.

Training can give you more energy, reduce pain and stiffness, and improve sleep. In some cases, it can also reduce hot flashes. Remember to start gradually if it has been a long time since you trained, to avoid overload and injuries.

Naardic is a training center, and not a medical service. You should talk to your doctor about any other forms of treatment, such as hormone patches, or if you experience symptoms that do not improve over time. Your doctor will certainly agree with us that training helps with menopause!

Menopause normally occurs between the ages of 45 and 55, but symptoms can begin earlier (“perimenopause”). There is also early menopause, where the symptoms occur before the age of 40.

No problem! We have classes adapted to all levels. Look for classes marked with “Low threshold” and you will get a good start.

You can test as many classes as you can for free, for 30 days by registering a user. If you cancel during the trial period, you will not be charged anything for the membership.
